Drop-shipping and Accentis Enterprise

Drop-shipping is a supply chain management process where you, the seller, will arrange to send stock from the Suppliers directly to the Customer without it ever physically being in your Warehouse. You will need to Receive and Dispatch the stock items through Accentis Enterprise to create the correct documentation. This enables correct financial records for each party (you, the supplier, and the customer), and for stock accountability overall. It is very important that this process is still recorded in Accentis Enterprise.

The only difference when processing these transactions in Accentis Enterprise is the delivery information on the Purchase order to indicate that it is being drop-shipped to the customer, and not delivered to your warehouse. The benefit of processing the transactions in this manner is that it will be consistent for both the supplier and the customer regardless of the delivery requirements.

Accentis Enterprise has the ability to allow drop-shipping using a combination of currently available features, so you can start drop-shipping right away.

Stock that is drop-shipped still undergoes a Receive and Dispatch process. This is important because:

  • The supplier will still give you a delivery docket and an invoice, which must be recorded in Accentis Enterprise
  • The customer must also receive a delivery docket and invoice, which also must be recorded in Accentis Enterprise

How to drop-ship in Accentis Enterprise

There are two ways to process a drop-shipping transaction to ensure that stock is not viewed as In-stock to others before they have been dispatched:

  1. As soon as you process the Receive the stock, Dispatch it right away
  2. Create and use a DROPSHIP or INTRANSIT warehouse
    1. This option is the most suitable when you have a high-volume of drop-shipping transactions with significant delay between Receive and Dispatch
